Retirees Set to Receive $4,873 Social Security Payments in the Coming Hours

A new round of Social Security payments is set to be issued soon, with the U.S. Government confirming the disbursement through the appropriate agency. Only eligible retirees will receive these payments, so if you haven’t received your check or direct deposit yet, it could be due to not meeting the qualifications. If that’s the case, you might receive your payment next week.

Additionally, the payment may also apply to recipients of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). For SSDI recipients, the maximum payment can be as much as $3,822, although it won’t reach $4,873. In general, SSDI payments tend to be higher because individuals with disabilities often cannot increase their income, which affects the amount of their benefits.

Date and Eligibility for the Next Social Security Payment

Retirees who meet the following conditions will receive their Social Security payment:

  • They did not start collecting Social Security before May 1997
  • They are not receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • They remain eligible for Social Security payments

These eligible retirees can expect their payment of up to $4,873 to be issued on December 11, 2024. To receive the payment on this date, recipients must have been born between the 1st and the 10th of any month, regardless of the year.

Who Will Receive $4,873 from Social Security?

For December 2024, the average retirement benefit payment will be $1,927, but those who have worked for over 35 years and earned the taxable maximum during their careers can receive much higher payments. In fact, if you have earned the maximum taxable amount every year for 35 years and waited until age 70 to file, your payment could be as high as $4,873.

On the other hand, those who filed at age 62 can receive up to $2,710, while those who filed at Full Retirement Age (FRA) could receive as much as $3,822. It’s important to note that these higher amounts are less common, and most recipients will likely receive an amount closer to the average.

If your payment seems low, you may be eligible for additional support, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Additionally, other Social Security retirement checks will be issued on December 18 and 24, 2024.
