Fare Evasion Attempt Leads to Arrest of Man with Shotgun on Metro X2 Bus
A man was arrested by Metro Transit police after attempting to avoid paying a fare on a Metrobus and being found with a loaded shotgun under his coat, authorities reported Wednesday.
The incident occurred when plainclothes officers stopped the man on an X2 route bus. According to police, the man initially refused to comply with the officers’ instructions. After he was taken into custody, a loaded shotgun and several rounds of ammunition were discovered on him.
This arrest is part of Metro’s ongoing efforts to address fare evasion on its bus system. While undercover officers are involved in the crackdown, Metro’s General Manager clarified that the main focus of the enforcement efforts includes officers stationed at bus bays and busy bus stops, preventing those who haven’t paid from boarding.
