Metro Transit Police Arrest Man with Shotgun for Avoiding Fare on X2 Bus

A man was taken into custody by Metro Transit police after attempting to evade paying a Metrobus fare and being found in possession of a loaded shotgun, authorities reported on Wednesday.

According to police, the suspect was stopped by plainclothes officers on an X2 route bus after refusing to pay his fare. When the man was detained, officers discovered a loaded shotgun hidden under his coat, along with several rounds of ammunition.

This incident comes as part of Metro’s ongoing efforts to combat fare evasion, which includes undercover officers monitoring the system. While undercover officers play a role in the crackdown, Metro’s General Manager emphasized that the primary strategy involves officers stationed at bus bays and busy stops, ensuring that only fare-paying passengers are allowed to board.
